Musica Marin invites you to partake in a sensory experience like none other. This fall will be our inaugural International Chamber Music Festival; a three-day festival promising stunning settings, exquisite food, and chamber music that is both intimate and profound.

Musica Marin International Chamber Music Festival

For over four years, Musica Marin’s concerts, grants and programs have touched many lives, from young musicians to the young at heart. It has been a natural progression to create the first annual Musica Marin International Chamber Music Festival, a multi-day experience that embodies the purpose and passion behind the organization. The area’s natural beauty, storybook neighborhoods, first-class dining and breathtaking vistas provide the perfect setting for the sights, sounds, and tastes to behold during the weekend Festival.

Artistic Director Ruth Kahn seeks to create and expand upon the intimate, sensory-rich environments of Musica Marin’s ongoing concert performances by incorporating the town’s unique venues and stunning locales into the Festival schedule. The Belvedere-Tiburon location was an ideal choice to hold such a memorable event. The area’s natural beauty, storybook neighborhoods, first-class dining and breathtaking vistas provide the perfect setting for the sights, sounds, and tastes to behold during the weekend Festival.

The inaugural Musica Marin International Chamber Music Festival invites music and culinary lovers from near and far to share in this unique event. Musical and culinary talent from across the country and around the globe will be present throughout the entire weekend for this interactive multi-day celebration.     • 3:00pm

      * San Francisco Bay Area Yacht Cruise *

      The Musica Marin International Chamber Music Festival kicks off with a Festival Founding Members Yacht Cruise around San Francisco Bay. Guests aboard this intimate cruise will experience a private concert by celebrated German-Italian Baritone, Marco Vassalli. Gourmet hors d’oeuvres will be provided by elite “Best of the Bay” Chef Mark Furr along with perfectly paired wines.

      * Pre-Concert Dinner *

      After the Bay Cruise, Founding Festival Members will enjoy a private four-course dinner with wine pairing prepared by one of our celebrated guest chefs.

      7:30pm

      Opening Night Concert
      — St. Stephen’s Church —

      World-renowned musicians will open the inaugural Festival with masterpieces from the chamber music repertoire. This evenings concert will conclude with the glorious G major sextet of Johannes Brahms.

      Afternoon Symposium and Concert String Trio Giacometti
      — Old St. Hilary’s Chapel —

      Festival guests are invited to take part in an informative discussion on the music to be performed this afternoon lead by our Festival master musicians from Europe. Trio Giacometti will perform Mozart and Sibelius.

      5:30pm

      Chef and Vintner Reception hosted by special guest Liam Mayclem, KCBS’ “Foodie Chap”
      — St. Stephen’s Church —

      Award-winning chefs will present beautifully prepared food alongside select exceptional local wines while renowned harpist, Krista Strader, serenades with an auditory backdrop that will complement and enhance the exquisite dining experience. Our special guest host for the evening is Liam Mayclem, known to legions of fans as CBS’ “Foodie Chap.”

      8:00pm

      Saturday Evening Festival Concert
      — St. Stephen’s Church —

      The last concert of the day will be held in St. Stephen’s magnificent sanctuary. We invite you to enjoy an informative Q&A with Musica Marin’s Composer-in-Residence Clint Borzoni and Baritone Marco Vassalli. Our esteemed guest Marco Vassalli joins our Festival strings in the inspired performance of Samuel Barber’s “Dover Beach”, and Clint Borzoni’s two songs for Baritone and String Quartet. The concert will end in grand style with Festival musicians performing Mendelssohn’s B-flat viola quintet.

      * Garden Luncheon & Intimate Outdoor Concert *
      — Exclusive Private 9-Acre Tiburon Estate —

      Our venue is a spectacular nine-acre Tiburon estate opening its gardens for a truly memorable afternoon. Founding Festival Members are invited to this special afternoon performance and al fresco lunch served on the grounds of this expansive estate. World-renowned Festival Cellist, Jeffrey Solow, will give a lively discussion and concert on the life and music of J.S. Bach and perform a selection of his solo cello suites.

      Wine Tasting on the Terrace
      — Exclusive Private 9-Acre Tiburon Estate —

      Award-winning chefs will present beautifully prepared food alongside select exceptional local wines while renowned harpist, Krista Strader, serenades with an auditory backdrop that will complement and enhance the exquisite dining experience.       Festival Concert Finale
      — Exclusive Private 9-Acre Tiburon Estate —

      All of the Festival’s musicians come together for this memorable final concert of the Festival. We are planning for a truly stunning performance to be held at this gorgeous estate, concluding with Felix Mendelssohn’s exquisite and virtuosic octet.

      Closing Festival Party
      — Exclusive Private 9-Acre Tiburon Estate —

      After the concert, guests will enjoy a festive soiree to celebrate, mix and mingle with fellow attendees, chefs, Festival musicians and Founding Festival Members. Enjoy scenic views of the estate, outstanding wines, and delectable bites by Chef Randy Gardner.

    Ruth Kahn Musica Marin founder and artistic director, Ruth Kahn, has had a special vision for much of her adult life: a vision to inspire, educate and cultivate appreciation and support for the classical arts. Musica Marin is the embodiment of this vision and takes pride in offering “a front row seat with a backstage pass” to premier concert events within easy reach to many.

    A Juilliard School graduate, renowned violist, and Bay Area native, Kahn has performed around the world from the most intimate venues to the most prominent stages. Whether being part of the New York City Ballet, San Francisco Opera, or festivals across Europe, Kahn’s passion for the powerfully uniting force of classical music is continuously reaffirmed.

    Since its formation in 2014, Musica Marin has offered unique, world-class concert events with internationally-renowned musicians in intimate settings that cultivate and expand audiences’ awareness and participation in musical arts. Programs include: In-home Concert Series, a Young Artists Performance, a Composer-in-Residence, and partnering with such esteemed organizations as The Juilliard School, Mill Valley Film Festival, San Francisco Boys Chorus and Merola Opera Program.
